Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children at once, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
